Legal information
Provisional information covering the COTK website, launcher, and community services.
Last updated: August 24, 2026
1. Project status
COTK is an independent, unofficial community project currently operated on a non-commercial basis. It is not affiliated with, approved by, or sponsored by Daybreak Game Company LLC or any related company.
H1Z1, Z1 Battle Royale, King of the Kill, and their related names, trademarks, software, and content belong to their respective owners. References are made only to describe compatibility and historical context. COTK claims no rights over those materials.
2. Publisher and hosting
Service publisher: individual temporarily operating the COTK project — full identity and address to be completed.
Publication director: to be completed.
Website and service hosting provider: legal name, address, and telephone number to be completed.
Temporary contact: COTK Discord server — https://discord.gg/wxxQFQHFrg. A dedicated legal address must be published before public launch.
3. Historical client and intellectual property
The launcher may install a historical client version required to connect to the community service. Rights in that client and its content remain with their respective owners.
This page is neither a license nor permission to distribute granted by Daybreak Game Company. Client availability may be changed, suspended, or withdrawn following a rights-holder request or a change to the project's legal framework.
Original COTK materials, including original server code, website code, and visual identity, remain subject to their respective licenses.
4. Non-commercial nature
Access to COTK servers and features is currently free. No payment is required to create an account, download the launcher, join a match, enter the leaderboard, or receive an in-game reward.
COTK currently sells no virtual currency, cosmetic item, queue priority, or tournament slot. Planned skins will be earned through player level, progression, and victories.
Any future funding, contribution, or commercial model will require prior legal review and separate contractual terms.
5. Accounts and data
Account creation processes a username, email address, irreversible cryptographic password hash, terms acceptance date, and information required to secure sessions. Plain-text passwords are never retained.
This data is used to authenticate the player, protect the account, link the launcher, assign characters, and retain progression. Session cookies are strictly necessary for account operation and are not used for advertising.
Web sessions expire after seven days, launcher sessions after thirty days, and temporary links according to the duration stated in the email. Account information is retained while the account remains active, subject to security obligations and legitimate deletion requests.
A private contact address must be published before public launch to support data access, correction, export, and deletion rights under applicable data-protection law.
Sensitive information must not be shared through the public Discord server.
6. Availability and conduct
The service is experimental and provided without a guarantee of continuous availability, statistics retention, or permanent compatibility. Interruptions, resets, and changes may occur.
Users must follow community rules, respect other players' security, and comply with applicable law. Cheating, harassment, exploit abuse, and account attacks may result in suspension.
7. Reports and takedown requests
Rights holders may request review of content, files, or features by temporarily contacting the team through the COTK Discord. Requests should identify the claimant, relevant material, asserted right, and private reply details.
A legal email address and formal notification process will be added before public launch. Sufficiently documented requests will be reviewed in good faith and may result in precautionary suspension.
